3 Strategies Photographers Can Do (But Most Don't) To Get More Bookings
Without fail, photographers want more bookings.
But wanting and knowing how to get them are two vastly different things.
Many photographers miss three key strategies that they can do right now to fill their calendar with ideal clients.
But once you know what these three things, and if you choose to implement them, it will have a massive impact on your marketing, bookings and business in general!
So what are the 3 things you can do right now (that most other photographers miss) to get more bookings?
#1 Connect with you audience
The other day, a student inside The Booked Photographer Mentorship asked me for some feedback on a new mini promotion he’s running. He has some great ideas already and was not sure what to do first. I offered some insight while also stressing the importance of asking his current market for feedback.
You see, this photographer already has some great connections with people would would be ideal for his upcoming photography promotion. When he takes a few moments to personally ask them for their insight and feedback, he’ll learn how to make what he already has planned so much better and more attractive to his target audience.
Photographers often make the mistake of only asking a mentor, coach or other random photographers in a FB group what to do. While that’s not a bad thing entirely, what would also be beneficial to do is make an intentional effort to connect, ask and listen to their current audience and clients.
This could be as simple as posting DM questions or having intentional conversations with our clients about what it is that they want, need, their reservations about being photographed, etc. Their responses are often times something we’d never think of on our own but can ultimately drive our content strategy that leads to more bookings.
#2 Improve your current photography service + client workflow process
This is by far the most under rated marketing tactic out there! A successful successful photographer will not only focus about booking that next new client, but will also go the extra mile to serve their current and past clients to the best of their ability.
When we have a stellar experience and follow up process with our current client base, they will share that within their circle of influence, thereby generating more referrals for you.
So take a moment and think through how you can improve upon your customer service experience. Could you incorporate more touch points in the photography process? Could you add in a few touch points after your client's photoshoot or wedding that keep you on the top of their mind?
#3 Focus on making one strategy better instead of adding more
Photographers are like popcorn. All too often, we are guilty from popping from one marketing strategy to another way too quickly instead of analyzing how they can test and tweak to make what we are currently doing better.
So my suggestion is that instead of trying something brand new, pick on marketing strategy that you are actively doing now - whether its reels, blogging, going live, ads, emails, etc - and ask yourself "How can I make this thing thing better?"
In other words, focus on mastering what you are already doing instead of spreading yourself too thin.
So there you have it, friend: 3 things that every photographer can do right now to improve on his or her marketing that would make a huge difference in their engagement, bookings and business overall!
