4 Tips To Boost Your Photography Website’s SEO

One of the best ways to organically market to your photography business and be found by ideal portrait clients is to improve your SEO. Not sure how to do that? Lucky for you, this blog will share with you 4 tips to boost your SEO and ranking within search engines. But first, let's define what SEO actually is.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and refers to the process of refining your website so that you content appears higher up, ideally on page one, of web searches. In the most simplistic way, SEO increases the likelihood of clients finding you from their Google and web searches.

Of course, numerous factors determine where your website appears on google searches so optimization refers to the process you can take to ensure your website is one of the first ones that pops up!

In order to make that happen, follow these 4 tips to boost your SEO and attract more photography clients!

1: Use relevant keywords in your page titles, meta descriptions, and image tags. If you're not yet familiar with SEO, you may be a bit unsure of what your keywords actually are. Keywords will vary from photographer to photographer, but they are essentially the kind of photography you do plus your location. For example, your keywords may include Orlando, Florida Newborn Photography or Nashville, TN Wedding Photographer. Once you determine what your keywords and phrases are, use them everywhere you can!

2: Ensure your site is mobile-friendly. Photographers can be guilty of spending HOURS designing the most beautiful website! It can be a tedious process, but well worth it. Often times in that design process, photographers may unintentionally neglect the mobile version design. Because the bulk of prospects will be searching from their phones, it's extremely important to make sure your website is easy to navigate from the mobile version!

3: Share quality content consistently. Your website will rank higher in Google searches if you are routinely adding and updating its content. This is where a "Blog" section comes in handy. Within your blog, you can showcase recent sessions and weddings, your photography, your products, testimonials, and any tips related to what your ideal client would find helpful to their session. Not only will you be able to add more of your keywords and images via your blog, Google will view your website as more relevant because you are continuously adding to it. For years, I have personally committed to blogging once a week. If you commit to the same, it will help establish yourself as an authority in the kind of photography you do while also driving more traffic to your site.

4: Be intentional about creating backlinks to your website. Backlinks are links from one webpage to another. Every time a website page includes a backlink to your website, Google and other major search engines consider it as a vote for you. Typically speaking, the more backlinks you have going to your website, the higher you will rank in organic searches. The best way to create backlinks is by reaching out to other businesses, blogs or websites that are related to what you do and ask them to feature your work on their website. For example, if you photograph a wedding at a local venue, consider sharing some photos of that day with that venue for their blog and website, ensuring that they credit with links back to your website.

Clearly, SEO is important in attracting ideal photography leads into your business. By optimizing your website, you increase your chances of getting more traffic, thereby boosting your inquiries and bookings.

By following these 4 tips, you will improve your ranking within search engines, amplify your visibility and attract more potential clients who are interested in your photography. So pick one (or all) and get started on increasing your SEO today!

Cheering you on!
