How to Maximize Your Time & Grow Your Photography Business

The other day, a photographer asked me this question:

When you’re not shooting or editing a session, what does your weekly flow look like?

This is such a good question so I thought I'd share my answer here too :-)

Because if you're anything like me, you likely have A LOT going on!

Maybe you work another full time job like I was when I first started my business.

Maybe you have young kids at home who are constantly vying for your attention (🙋‍♀️ homeschooling mama right here).

Maybe you're simply unsure of how to MAXIMIZE the time you have to get the best results in your photography business.

I'm sure you've heard of time blocking, which I'm a huge fan of.... but I have taken time blocking to a whole new level and utilize DAY blocking!

This means you have certain days for certain tasks.

For example...

Mondays and Tuesdays could be for marketing. This is when you can create and schedule social media posts, write emails, blogs, create videos, update ads - whatever form of marketing you may be working on in that season!

Wednesdays and Thursdays could be client days. These days can be when you schedule client consultation calls, photoshoots and ordering appointments.

And Fridays could be for editing and ordering products.

As my business has grown and evolved over the years, the days and tasks have changed, but make no mistake: Having designated DAYS helps tremendously in staying organized, maintaining focused and ultimately having more productive days and weeks.

Tell me in the comments below your own time saving tricks to being more productive in your photography business!

And if you haven't yet, be sure to grab yourself a digital copy of The Becoming Booked Method: A Photographer's Guide to a Fully Booked Calendar and Profitable Business. Well over 1200 photographers have already gotten their own copy and I've received countless messages of how much it's helped them organize their website, clarify their pricing and get their next few bookings! Cheering you on!
