Losing Instagram: How Getting Hacked Increased My Productivity

Last month, my Instagram was hacked.

It was totally out of the blue, completely unexpected and ended up being one of the best things that could have happened in my business.

Even though I spent years growing my following, even though I had a ton of my favorite photos (both business and personal) on there, even though I had some videos and reels that got quite a bit of reach, it's now all gone.

And it doesn't look like it will return.

I tried everything to get it back too, but it's like it vanished into thin air.

You'd think I'd be disappointed, right? Maybe stressed out? Perhaps angry and frustrated? Though I did feel all that momentarily, I am honestly now grateful.

I bet you're wondering why. After all, would you be grateful if your Instagram were to vanish tomorrow?

You see, it was only after losing it that I truly understood how much time and energy it sucked up. In fact, within the first week that it was gone, I accomplished something else that had been on my "To Do" list for years but never got around to it.

I wrote a book.

The first day that I realized that I was hacked, I decided that I would not waste time stressing over something I couldn't change. Instead, I decided to be productive with my time and asked what I could do now that would still grow my business and serve my clients.

The answer was obvious.

Writing a photography and marketing book was something that I had wanted to do years prior, but you know, life! It can be busy and even though writing a book was important, it wasn't urgent, so I never made time for it.

That is until I was hacked. Now I had time. Now I had space. Now I had the energy.

So I wrote a book....in 4 days!!!

It still blows my mind to think how productive I was in such a short about of time. But it's amazing what we can do without the distraction of social media.
