The Photographer's 30 Day Booking Plan

"There's just so much I want to do! I don' know where to start first!"

That’s exactly what a photographer told me the other day.

You ever feel like that?

I know I have!

Becoming a better photographer and growing your business can be an overwhelming task.

We set these high and lofty goals at the beginning of the year but then get easily overwhelmed by all that we need to work on...

Posing, editing, website, pricing, workflows....and don't even get me started on the thousand and one ways of marketing!

It's easy to get stuck in indecision and procrastination where there are so many things that have to get done!

This is why I'm a huge fan of creating 30 day goals (that supports my yearly goal).

I've done it for years in my business and still do it to this day.

I have learned that I am less productive when I'm working on a hundred different things at once....and then it's easy to get discouraged because I don't see the results as quickly as I'd like.

On the flip side, defining one goal or task that you are solely focused on for the next 30 days can help you build up the momentum and actually make massive progress in a relatively short amount of time.

In other words, your business growth is determined by what you focus on.

So here is the gist of a 30 day goal practice.

Pull out list of business to-dos. It may be really long, but that doesn't matter.

You pick one thing, one task, that will get the majority of your attention for the next 30 days.

Let's say you want to update your website (or finally create it) and that is your one and only focus for right now.

Then you can take that big task and divide it into 4 weekly tasks.

  1. So maybe on week one, you research different platforms and decide the pages you'll have.

  2. Then on week two, you write all the copy for every page on your website on a word document so it's all ready to go when you put your site together.

  3. Then on week three, you pull together all the photos you'll have on your site.

  4. Finally on week four, you combine the words and the images into your final site.

By the end of the 30 days, you have a beautiful website that you are not embarrassed to share when someone asks!!!

Oh and a huge benefit of focusing on ONE goal for 30 days, is that often times you'll be able to accomplish that task way sooner than you thought. So perhaps that website only takes you 20 days because all your attention is going there, making you uber efficient.

The bottom line is that you don't get results by focusing on results. You get results by focusing on the actions that produce the results (quote by Mike Hankins).

I talk about this idea more in depth in this free download which you are welcome to check out right here!
