3 Tips to Make More Money As A Photographer

Does talking about money make you feel sleazy, slimy or unworthy?

If so, you aren’t alone! A lot of photographers are held back by the whole money and sales conversation.

I know this because I used to be one of them.

Many photographers feel like they don't have enough money, procrastinate on upping their prices or feel like they are going to puke every time they communicate pricing with potential clients (or all of the above)!

Money however is simply a tool to do more of what you love and give back to the causes that tug on your heart strings.

So how exactly do you become more profitable as a photographer? Here are 3 tips to become more profitable as a photographer (and create happier clients in the process)!

TIP #1: Prioritize the Money Making Tasks

You probably have a massively long list of to-do items, but if you were to really analyze that list, how many of those activities are busy work verses income generating activities?

In order to earn more but not work more, you'll have to be incredibly focused with your time and spend the majority of your working time on the things that bring you in paying clients.

TIP #2 Communicate your photography pricing from the VERY FIRST contact with a potential client.

I believe basic pricing should be clearly stated on your website. When you connect with a potential client over the phone, communicate again your prices to make sure every party is on the same page. It’s better to over communicate price information rather than not say anything at all, leaving clients with unmet expectations.

TIP #3 Host Same Day Viewings

These are a game changer and something that I have loved implementing in my own business. Once I'm done photographing a client, they go grab a bite to eat while I quickly download, cull and lightly edit their images. We then meet back up the SAME DAY (usually an hour later) so they can see their photos immediately. Doing this one thing increased my sales averages by $1000 without having to up my prices!

In our programs, we go much more in depth about pricing your collections and products, how to convey your value, and how to confidently sell products your clients will love! It's a big topic and deserves so much more than this one post!

So if you are curious on how to become more profitable as a photographer, connect with my team here! We'd love to learn more about you, your business goals and struggles and see if one of our programs is a good option for you right now!

Cheering you on!
