The Secret to Never Lacking Photography Clients

Sometimes as photographers our focus can be completely out of whack.

🙋‍♀️ I've totally been guilty of this.

It's an easy trap for us to fall into. We can be so outwardly focused on what our competition is doing, what they are posting, how much they are charging, that we completely ignore the one thing needed to attract clients into our business.

The pressure of booking more, even if they are not ideal clients or slashing our prices in hopes more bookings result is quite frankly, not the best decision when you think about the longevity and sustainability of your business.

So what's a photographer to do when she desperately needs clients?

The answer: Focus on ADDING VALUE to your client's lives.

There's so many ways to do this too but the premise is to get your focus off yourself and onto making your client's lives better.

Your clients are real people with real problems, struggles and frustrations. You, my friend, are in a position to help and alleviate some of those pressures for them.

This is something we discuss in much greater detail with The Booked Photographer Mentorship students but let me give you an example for the time being.

Traditionally, my senior and family clients tend to be super busy and short on free time, so meeting up again a couple weeks after their photoshoot for an in-person sales appointment was oftentimes inconvenient.

So I shifted my process and experience and started implementing Same Day Viewings (meaning my clients can see the photos I took of them within one hour of the photoshoot)! This saved them loads of time (me as well), produced a quicker turnaround time, and made it more convenient for everyone involved!

As a result, my sales averages increased by $1000+ without having to up my prices!

How about another example...

After a few months of photographing brand clients, I noticed that not too many were posting the images they literally spent thousands of dollars on. Now I could have been tempted to think that perhaps maybe they didn't like the images I took (ie: I could have been self focused). Instead, I asked them why they were not using the photos they spent so much money on because I genuinely care.

Come to find out that my brand clients struggled with knowing what to say when they post on social media. They loved the photos, but had trouble writing captions (sound familiar?) Now that I knew where the problem was, I could do something to HELP them.

I decided to record a 45 minute training into my brand collection that walks my brand clients through how to use their images on social and I even gave them templates for captions! This one thing added VALUE to my brand collection and alleviated my client's stress in coming up with things to say on social media.

Because of that, I have booked countless brand clients, many of whom mentioned how much they appreciate how I not only take great photos of them but how I also teach them how to fully utilize the photos they invest into.

The point: If you focus on making your client's lives better, you'll never lack clients.

Your turn! Hit reply and let me know one or two things you can start implementing to make things easier for your clients!

Cheering you on!
